A very fine snuff or patch box topped with miniature painting  of the goddess Diana at her bath with 3 attendants,  framed in a solid gold frame. The box measures 8.4x6.5x2.4cms. The box is most probably French as they loved this style of Neoclassical scene and owning the box would have dentoted a person of style and education as it represents order, harmony and beauty. 1760 to 1790. There are 2 splits in the gold frame.
